Club Championship 2018

Club Championship 2018

The Club Champs is back, with a few tweaks for 2018. This year for one year only (unless it proves popular with members) we will crown a Sprint Distance Club Champion and a Standard Distance Club Champion, as well as award the classic King of the Mountains prize for the winners of the hill climb.

To be eligible for the championship, members must sign up when registering for membership, or by visiting Our Shop, and pay a £2 entry fee. The entry fee is levied to cover the cost of the championship, with any excess going to the club charity.

When you sign up there will be two categories: aspiring and inspiring. The aspiring category is for athletes who are just starting out in triathlon. This year aspiring athletes are those who are in their first year of racing or have done fewer than 5 races total by the date of the championship race they are entering.

The inspiring category is for those club members who have more experience and so will include everyone who is not in the aspiring category.

If any aspiring athlete finishes within 110% of the inspiring winners time they will automatically be moved to the inspiring category. Also, any athlete who has won the aspiring category in any previous year will be automatically moved up to inspiring.

Please confirm the category you fall into when signing up for the championships. If between entering and the race you feel you have entered the wrong category, please contact us.

At each event we will try to arrange a lift share discussion and social at the event. We are in contact with the race organisers to try and have a club championships presentation shortly after the final club member finishes and so would appreciate it if you could stay and continue to support your club mates. Equally, if you are not competing, please come along and volunteer either with the event or with our support team!

The club championship races will consist of:

  • Standard Distance Championships 29nd July - Cotswolds Lake 62 Standard (OW) Enter Here

  • Sprint Distance Championships - 11th August - Portishead Sprint Triathlon (pool) Enter Here

  • Hill Climb – Club event

You will be responsible for entering the event(s) you wish to compete in, directly with the organisers.

Don't forget to list your club as BADTri on the entry form (please use this exact spelling, as it aids the administration of the results). If you do not do this you will not be eligible for the championship.

Prizes

The club championship prizes will be either given out directly after each championship race (if possible) or at the End of Season party. The winner of each category and gender at each race will win a club champions cycling jersey. The male and female winners of the hill climb will win the special club KOM cycling jersey (there are no inspiring or aspiring categories for the hill climb).

  • Champion Jersey White

  • Champion Jersey Black

  • King of the Mountains Polka Dot Jersey

Any previous winner of a category will not be eligible for a second jersey (i.e. you may only win 1 aspiring and 1 inspiring jersey). In the championship organiser's sole discretion the jersey will roll down to the highest unrewarded finisher. However, in all cases, no roll-down will be awarded if the finisher is not within 110% of the champion.

Interested in becoming club champion? Get your race entries in, look out for the sign-up link and get training, these jerseys are usually hotly contested!
