Open Water Swim Sessions 2019

Open Water Swim Sessions 2019

We need volunteers for several weekends over the summer, please. No volunteer means no lake session. Please consider helping, especially if you’re a lake user. If you'd like to help, you can volunteer by submitting your name and selecting available dates on this Doodle poll. Thanks.

Sessions will run every Sunday morning from 9:30-11:00 until the final session on September 8th. You can book into a session on the bookings page and you're free to use the lake as much as you want during the hour and a half we have use of it.

We will be running 4 coached sessions over the course of the summer. These are primarily targeted at beginners, but may also be useful for intermediate swimmers. We will cover a range of open water skills such as sighting, drafting and turns. Coached sessions will be held on: 19 May, 9 June, 30 June and 14 July. You can also book into a coached session on the bookings page

We will also be running a long training day in July as part of the build up to Challenge Almere. This will be on Saturday 20 July, but there will be no swim that Sunday. More details will follow.

These open water sessions would not be possible without the help of volunteers. The Lake committee asks that we provide at least one non-swimmer each week to take the register and check that everyone leaves at the end. This role is filled by a loyal band of volunteers and we would like YOU to join them!

We try to put two people on each session (and then you can both have a swim too if you fancy!) We should need you for no more than a couple of sessions a season per volunteer. Really no hardship, when you can swim too IF we get enough volunteers.

Possibly the most pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning in a beautiful place, drinking coffee (BYO) and chatting to fellow athletes.

If you'd like to help, you can volunteer by submitting your name and selecting available dates on this Doodle poll. Alternatively, you can offer up your time by contacting coaching through the website. All help is gratefully received.
